News you can use...

...ok, so maybe you can't use it. Who knows? :o) I'm just updating on the weekend so far! Today John, the kids and I went to a meeting that helps to plan part of GenCon. We had a blast. Our kids were a little crazy but everyone else was so nice. We really had fun.

In other news, my friend Cris prompted me to submit some of my writing for publication. This week I submitted 3 articles. The publisher says that it will probably take 4 to 6 weeks to hear back from them. Here's to 4 to 6 weeks of nail biting. If rejected, I promise to try again (hold me to that!). If accepted, here's to more food on the table!

We did receive a check for $300 from our mortgage company, payment for overage on our escrow this year. Praise God! With me staying home, things have been a little tighter money-wise than we've hoped for. But we are still making it! :o)

And for the funny side, we attended a family gathering at my aunt's house this past weekend. It was a "Christmas in July" party complete with Christmas gifts and a visit from "Dougie Clause" (my teenage brother). See below...

Yep, I can't run from this stuff... It follows me everywhere! :o)

I'm glad I'm not the only one with a crazy family! Good luck with the writing. I had some work published a few years ago, and it's an awesome feeling.

Isn't it amazing how God provides? Some would argue that it was your money and God had nothing to do with it, but I really believe he helps time things just right and makes things work out when we have no idea how they will. Since we are paying for my return to school and Blake's preschool I'm not sure how we do it some days, but the Lord always provides, and he did the same when I was a SAHM fulltime. Matt lost his job when Blake was 6-months-old, and we thought all was lost. Instead, Matt found the job he currently has--Friday is his 4-year anniversary there. He travels less and is under less stress--this job is 1000 times better for us as a family. God had a plan all along. He's amazing!

What type of writing did you submit? I used to be published frequently, but the last several times I tried, I have been RE-JECTED. But, I try not to take it personally (unabashed sobbing in background...lol) and that is one reason I began blogging. Good luck on your effort and keep us posted...and, in the off-chance it doesn't work out, just know I understand (sniffle sniffle...lol) and like you said, keep trying!

It was mainly devotional type stuff for Christian magazines. I seriously doubt it will get published but it's worth a try. If you are interested here's the website for Relevant (http://www.relevantmagazine.com/editorial/index.php)
and here's the one for Discipleship Journal (http://www.navpress.com/Magazines/DiscipleshipJournal/WriterGuidelines/). I went with Relevant just because it's more along my age level. DJ had a median audience of 40-50 year old women. You might consider giving it a try. :o) Your stuff is really good.
